Biography
When I was looking at colleges, I knew I wanted to go out of state. I wanted to explore a different area, meet different people and have a change of scenery. My dad was in the military for 23 years and when he got out he started teaching fourth grade. I visited his classroom and saw him working with the children and I then decided that I wanted to teach.
Why did you choose to attend Northern Arizona University?
I knew after visiting my father's classroom that I wanted to teach. Northern Arizona has a great teacher education program. When I visited the campus, everyone was friendly and helpful. I felt very comfortable. I loved the campus location, in an easy-going college town.
What do you like best about Northern Arizona University?
The campus community. There is always something going on or something to do. The faculty enjoy teaching and they know what they are talking about.
What advice would you give a prospective student?
Consider all the colleges and universities that you are looking at for what you want. Pick a school where you will be happy because you are going to be going there for four years. Don't let your parents sway you to go to a school that they like. When you attend a college, don't overload your class schedule, make time to enjoy the college experience.
What do you do for fun on the weekends?
On the weekends during the summer you can find me down by the creek near Sedona enjoying the water and sun. During the winter, I'll be out snowboarding. I'm not that good but I have a great time.
Describe the best professor you've had here and explain why.
I have really enjoyed Dr. Guy Senise's classes. He can take the most uninteresting topics and relate them to real life or a story that is interesting so he keeps your attention. You learn the information because he makes it fun and interesting.
Describe what it is like living on campus.
I lived on campus my first two years here and I met so many people and always had something to do. There are always concerts going on. I really enjoyed a concert by 'Rooney' that was held on campus. It was a great show.
