Biography
I am really involved within the Residence Life community. I'm an RA in the Complex (Wilson/Allen Halls). I am involved in some clubs around campus including Hall Council, Sigma Tau Delta (the English academic fraternity), and am currently in the process of joining Campus Wide Events. I attend the Newman Center on Sundays. I also have been involved in many community service positions including Relay for Life and volunteering with the elderly at Infinia. I have been on the Dean's list and received awards for academic achievement.
Why did you choose to attend Northern Arizona University?
I chose to attend here because of the community. I love the small-town feel and the friendliness of the people. I also love the weather and the atmosphere of the campus.
What do you like best about Northern Arizona University?
My favorite thing is how friendly the students are. You can literally open a door for someone and they can tell you their entire life story and you've made an instant friend. I've never met such an open bunch of people as I have here.
What advice would you give a prospective student?
When you know what you want to pursue career-wise, you have to do it. No matter how much work it may seem at the time, it’s worth it. Even if it means changing your major your sophomore or junior year, if you aren't happy doing it now, will you really be happy in ten years with a career in that field?
What do you do for fun on the weekends?
On the weekends I pretty much just hang out with my friends. We go downtown, take day trips to Sedona or Prescott, and just try to explore all of Northern Arizona. Sometimes we also just veg in our rooms and watch movies, play video games, or just talk.
Describe the best professor you've had here and explain why.
My favorite professor has been Nancy Barlow. She teaches Astronomy 180. She has such knowledge of everything that it’s amazing. She also has done amazing work for NASA and it’s awesome to have a teacher that has so much experience in the actual field they are teaching. You can always tell you have a good teacher when they are absent from class one day and you can’t wait for them to return!
Describe what it is like living on campus.
Living on campus is amazing! You're literally in the middle of everything that goes on. It's a really good way to meet people and to get involved. There are always activities planned and different events especially for us. I would really recommend living on campus as long as you can.
