

It is never too early to being searching for the best school for you. Since you are already researching schools, it just makes your job that much easier. Getting an early start allows you to explore your interests, compare academic programs and visit campuses that interest you.

6th & 7th Grades
Talk to your school counselor about courses that will prepare you for college
Take English and Mathematics such as pre-Algebra to help you prepare for courses in high school that will be considered for admissions to college. See the Admissions Requirements |
8th Grade
- Take pre-Agebra or Algebra I
- Take a language other than English

9th Grade
- Meet with your Guidance Counselor to set up a plan to complete the State of Arizona Course Requirements.
- Form good study habits.
- Job-shadow an adult whose career interests you.
- Find a sport or activity you love and take steps toward becoming a leader at your high school.
- Become active in other clubs and organizations that interest you, including community service organizations, religious youth groups or a part-time job.
- Take required courses to meet the admissions standards required for admission

10th Grade
- Continue with courses to meet the admissions standards required for admission: See the Admissions Requirements
- Focus on your grades: Don't wait until your junior or senior year. The grades you make during your freshman and sophomore years have a huge impact on your overall GPA and class rank.
- Look into taking standardized tests such as the ACT and SAT, which are required at most colleges.
