2. Complete the FAFSA
Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the most important step in planning for your college expenses. The FAFSA provides a complete and official calculation of your EFC and an idea of your financial need. Your actual need might be higher than your estimate, meaning that you might be eligible for more assistance. The FAFSA also determines your eligibility for a variety of grant and loan programs with just one form.
Before completing the FAFSA, both you and a parent or guardian will need to get a Personal Identification Number or PIN. The PIN acts as your electronic signature and is required to complete the FAFSA application. You will then use the same PIN to complete the FAFSA every year. Go to pin.ed.gov to get your PIN. Make sure that you list Northern Arizona University (code = 001082) on your FAFSA. Please complete the FAFSA at fafsa.ed.gov .
Things to Know about the FAFSA
What Happens Next
Once your FAFSA is processed, both you and NAU will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) which lists your official expected family contribution. This information allows us to evaluate your eligibility for financial assisance.
